Tooth Fairies Do Exist!
by Amy Fees
Let’s face it, finding the right dentist can be a difficult task that nobody looks forward to. Differences in personalities, treatment options, locations, schedules and even materials used can affect who you ultimately choose to provide your dental needs. Why not make it easy and choose a real live tooth fairy? Why not choose someone with a passion for positive, patient-centered, conservative care? Someone upbeat, happy to see you and eager to improve the way you look and feel? Why not choose Dr. Elizabeth Rayne?
At Dr. Rayne’s office we see people as individuals with many facets. We take each person’s unique needs into consideration when discussing a patient’s treatment. We do not dictate, but rather educate and guide patients so they can make an informed and appropriate decision about their dental care. We are happy to provide patients with educational materials and referrals to aid in the decision-making process. But ultimately the patient should be the captain of the ship when it comes to treatment decisions. Dr. Rayne always starts with the least invasive option, choosing to retain natural tooth structure whenever possible because we want our patients to keep their teeth forever!
To achieve this goal we do not treat the mouth in isolation but rather with respect to the dramatic effect the mouth has on the body and vice-versa. The human body is complex and often misunderstood, each system intricately intertwined with other systems. For example, did you know that gum and bone disease could increase your chances of developing heart disease? Or that teeth clenching and grinding can cause headaches and/or shoulder and neck problems? And why do some people seem to develop cavities no matter how much they brush and floss? We will educate you on these and other issues that affect not only your mouth, but also your entire body.
Dr. Rayne has been in practice for more than twenty years and is a member of the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Holistic Dental Association and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. She is skilled in the proper and safe removal of metal fillings and knowledgeable about the vast selection of dental materials available to replace them. In addition, we have worked with many alternative practitioners in the Austin area, such as chiropractors, naturopathic doctors and homeopathic doctors, and will happily provide referrals to these individuals as well. Whether you have specific allergies or just want to be informed about what goes into your body, we will work closely with you and your other providers to help you decide which procedures and materials are most appropriate for you.
We offer the finest general and cosmetic dentistry services including fillings, crowns, bridges, partials, dentures, limited root-canal treatment, non-complicated oral surgery and teeth whitening. In addition we provide comprehensive non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease.
And for our patients who may be a little nervous about spending time at the dentist, we have options to help take the fear out of treatment. Getting your mouth in shape doesn’t have to be something you dread. Whether you just need a checkup or want to change your look completely, you can have a beautiful smile and a healthy mouth without painful appointments.
